Whenever Chen respawns, he is joined by a Zealot, a melee warrior creep with the ability to sacrifice itself to heal or deal damage to an enemy. The Zealot receives Holy Persuasion's benefits and scales up with other lane melee creeps as game time increases and gains extra base damage. The Zealot respawns next to Chen after 60s.

Zealot may be activated to teleport a unit under your control to Chen after a 6 second delay. If Chen is targeted, it will teleport all units you control. Taking damage from enemy heroes or their units will cancel the teleport.

Zealot has the same stats as the current melee creeps on his team, including super or mega form, but has 125 attack range, base damage increased by 2 per Chen's level, base health regen increased from 0.5 to 2.5, and doesn't have Runty attack type. Zealot respawns after 60s dead
  • Martyrdom ability: 500 range unit-targeted ability on the Zealot creep, targeting either an enemy or ally unit. When cast, the creep sacrifices itself, firing a projectile at 1000 speed at the target unit, dealing damage if it's an enemy or healing if it's an ally. Damage is 25 + 20% of the Zealot's health at the moment of the cast, and healing is 50% of these values
  • This ability can be cast on a controlled unit to teleport it to Chen after a 6 second delay. Self-targeting will teleport all controlled units. Mana Cost: 50. Cooldown: 10s
  • Mechanics moved from Divine Favor without any changes

Chen takes control of an enemy or neutral creep and receives a percentage of its bounty. Its maximum health is set to 400. Converted creeps will have increased movement speed and bonus damage. Chen may globally target his own creep if it has not taken damage in the last 3 seconds to unsummon it.


Persuading a new creep above max unit count causes the oldest persuaded creep to die.

Can target Ancient creeps when Chen has Aghanim's Shard.

The health of creeps already under Chen's control does not update to the new level upon leveling Holy Persuasion further.

Strategy

Bring a {sentry-ward} or two to the lane to unblock the camps. Chen's laning impact is directly related to summon usage.

If you find Harpy Stormcrafter, you will have massive kill potential with the slow from Penitence.

Aside from using summons to harass on the lane, you can gank with them, stack camps, control runes, block camps and even snipe couriers.

Keep an eye on the map and save your teammates in trouble by using Hand of God.

You want to group up early with your team and make use of your summons and auras to play aggressively.

When not much is happening on the map, you can split push lanes with your summons.

Look to farm and play greedy once you have level 3 Holy Persuasion. An early timing on {mekansm} into {solar-crest} lets you snowball the game.

You can choose a Convert facet to cover the weakness or enforce the strength of your team, such as stun lock, damage, or laning.

Counter Strategy

Block off small and big pull camps either with a {sentry-ward} or with your hero's body.

Chen lineups tend to power spike in early to mid game. Don't buy greedy items.

Look to gank Chen as you will kill his army as well.

Items that reduce healing are good against Chen.

Chen lineups are good at taking early Roshan. Place {observer-ward} around the Roshpit to scout.

Be aware of Chen applying strong dispel with Hand of God if he has the level 25 talent.
