Techies stats, abilities and strategy
Surprises enemies with invisible landmines and explosive attacks
For the Techies, battle is a matter of mischief. Giggling while they lob sticky bombs around the battlefield, their hidden explosive mines, disarming zaps, and reckless blast-off attacks are enough to leave most enemies dead. Or at least enraged. Often both.

Strategy
Use spells to quickly push out the wave and secure the rune that's about to spawn without missing farm.
Ferry some health consumables with your courier to use Blast Off! frequently.
Blast Off! destroys trees which can be useful against certain heroes and when opponents try to hide in trees.
Look to place a couple of Proximity Mines around portals for a surprise burst on enemies using them.
You can make it harder for opponents to destroy mines by sitting on top of them.
Drop or backpack items that provide you with mana before using Arcane Boots, Bottle or Soul Ring.
Sticky Bombs and Proximity Mines provide a little vision so you can scout cliffs and highgrounds, runes or the Roshan pit.
Consider smoking yourself onto the opponents' side of the map to mine aggressively. Bring an observer as well.
Look for pickoffs or join teamfights with your massive burst potential.
If your teammates are pressuring, move with them, mine around them and Blast Off! when opponents clump up.
Place a couple of Proximity Mines at the entrance of Roshan pit to scout enemy movement.
Pick up Aghanims Shard for extra damage on your Reactive Tazer adding additional burst to your combo.
Consider using Force Staff on enemy heroes to push them into mines.
Play aggressively in lanes and the enemy jungle with your level 7 as you have massive kill potential.
With Ethereal Blade, you can burst down just about any hero on the map with your combo.
Counter Strategy
Against Techies, deliver extra consumables and an Observer Ward to keep track of him.
Proximity Mines explode 1 seconds after you hear the beep. Destroy them or move away quickly.
Keep track of Techies' movements and which part of the map is being mined.
Avoid walking up highground or in Roshan pit without vision. You might run into mines.
Magic resistance items, Black King Bar and Aeon Disk are great against Techies to avoid getting bursted.
Make it tricky for Techies to land Sticky Bombs on you by making sharp turns.
Avoid running too close to Techies' Minefield sign once he has Aghanim's Scepter as it triggers a massive damage area for anyone who walks through it.
Lore
In the storied saga of Dredger's Bight, no business has ever been more reviled than Techies Demolitions. Then again, Dredger's Bight no longer exists. Nor does Toterin. Or even Trapper Town. In fact, if one were to track the history of Techies Demolitions they might notice that shortly after Techies appear, towns tend to disappear.
Like every inevitable disaster surrounding Techies, the obliteration of Dredger's Bight began with an invention. Tasked with designing a safer way of detonating explosives in the mines beneath the city, pyrotechnic prodigies Squee, Spleen, and Spoon developed their most outlandish creation yet: a button which, when pressed, would trigger a distant device to spark a fuse.
Overeager to test their invention, the trio stuffed barrel after barrel with flamesalt explosives, piling every corner of their tiny workshop high with the newly developed remote bombs. From this stockpile they plucked a single payload, burying it in a far away field. As they cowered in a ditch, Spleen pressed the detonator button. Yet after a moment, nothing happened. Confused, he stood up, pressing his button again and again until, finally, an explosion tore a hole in the field. Elated, Squee and Spleen turned toward home just as a massive wave of sound and force arrived to knock them over.
Bewildered, their ears ringing from the unexpected blast, they gathered in the dingy miasma to see a smoking ruin where their workshop once stood. Chunks of wood and stone continued to fall as the yawning crater before them slowly deepened into an expanding pit. The whole of Dredger's Bight shuddered, and then gradually started to slide into the mines below as its panicked residents fled.
Sitting at the edge of their sinking home they grinned and giggled, as giddy at the possibilities as they were oblivious to the scorn of their former neighbors. They wondered only one thing: how could they trigger an even bigger blast?
