Strategy

Look for angles to fear enemies under tower with Dead Shot.
Use Dead Shot to fear enemy heroes into The Calling spirits.

Pierce the Veil makes you immune to all physical damage. Use it to evade attacks.
You can dodge mid air projectiles like Vengeful Spirit stun with Pierce the Veil.
Be careful about your positioning in teamfights as your hero is slow and immobile without Blink or Hurricane Pike.
Look to keep enemy heroes within your attack range with the Dead Shot fear.
Be patient using Pierce the Veil when enemy heroes have BKBs.
Use Pierce the Veil to burst down high armor heroes with massive magic damage from your right clicks.
Use Ethereal Blade in combination with Pierce the Veil for massive magical burst damage.
Get Maelstrom in the early game to flash farm the map and scale better in the mid game.
Counter Strategy
Be careful about last hitting close to the enemy tower against Dead Shot fear.
Get some movement speed with Boots and Wind Lace to get out of The Calling AOE.
Try not to fight Muerta solo as she can hit you with double attacks with Gunslinger.
Get an early BKB against Muerta to reduce her spell damage from Pierce the Veil and Dead Shot.
Magic resistance items are incredible against Muerta's magical burst.
Get items like Mage Slayer and Heavens Halberd to severely reduce Muerta's damage output.
Buy mobility items like Blink and Force Staff to close the gap on Muerta.
Lore
There are as many stories about Muerta as there are graves in the Carrion Fields of Gorm. Some tell their children ghost stories of a young peasant girl returned from the dead to punish the bandits who killed her family. Others, drunk in dark taverns, slur conspiracy theories about kidnappings and phantom guilds of killers.
One constant bleeds through every tale: of a woman so consumed by hate for those who killed her that she refused to die. And of Death, so impressed by whatever hate-filled engine that drove this woman that he gave her Mercy and Grace — twin ethereal pistols — and made her his second in command. Now she hunts down wayward souls whose last grains have tumbled from their hourglass, and drags them kicking and screaming to their eternal reward.
