Underlord's natural ability to control areas and defend towers gives Spectre time to ramp up, without giving away too much of the map. Shadow Step and Fiend's Gate allows them to come to each other's aid on demand and allows their team to play greedy with a Spectre on the team. Aghanim's Shard allows Firestorm to be cast on Spectre, providing her with much needed proactive damage.

Pit of Malice is amazing at locking enemies down to set up both Static Storm and Kinetic Field due to it's AOE property. Disruptor can further Glimpse back any fleeing targets back into the Pit of Malice for devastating control and damage.

Pit of Malice is amazing at setting up Split Earth due to it's AOE property, allowing a second root to occur after the stun. This gives Leshrac ample time to get on top of any caught targets and deal his overwhelming damage.

Vengeful and Underlord naturally make for a strong lane as they are Melee/Ranged and have powerful early game spells. Magic Missile is both a great set up and follow up for Pit of Malice in order to trigger a second root and Nether Swap can be used to swap targets into it. Both Atrophy Aura and Wave of Terror reduce attack damage, making it an absolute nightmare for most right-clickers, especially stats stacking ones, to output significant damage.

Pit of Malice is good for setting up both Ice Blast and Cold Feet. In general the global presence of both heroes complement each other allowing their team to play a lot more greedy, while staying active on the map. Aghanim's Scepter further provides a global Pit of Malice for Ice Blast.

A core Boots upgrade to have some much needed mana pool and sustain to spam Firestorm for farming and fighting. Can be upgraded to Guardian Greaves or disassembled for Octarine Core or Lotus Orb later in the game.

A core item that helps with mana sustain to spam Firestorm for farming and fighting. Also makes you tanky with armor and HP pool.

A core item to follow up on your Pit of Malice root to keep an enemy hero inside its AoE and chain root them. Also makes you more tanky with HP pool.

A core item to have more control in teamfights by using Fiends Gate on top of enemy heroes and start fights by rooting them. Also prevents enemy heroes from chasing you through Fiends Gate.

A core upgrade for Firestorm that increases your AoE damage with more waves and lets you keep Firestorm on top of enemy heroes while you chase them. Goes well with Firestorm talents.

Atrophy Aura reduces WK's attack damage, which is almost all of his total damage output. He can control him multiple times with Pit of Malice, as he lacks innate dispel. Fiend's Gate allows him to bring in the numbers on WK if he ever gets caught out anywhere on the map in order to get trough his second life via Reincarnation.

Atrophy Aura reduces BASE attack damage and Naga being an Illusion hero greatly benefits from stacking Agility and increasing her base damage and Attack Speed to empowers her Illusions. Agility stacking means high armor so both Firestorm and Pit of Malice are great at providing reliable Magic damage and Crowd Control for her and her Illusions due to their AOE properties.

Atrophy Aura reduces BASE attack damage and Riki loves stacking Agility as it scales with Backstab. Pit of Malice reveals invisible units making it a potent counter to his core mechanic Cloak and Dagger. Pit of Malice and Firestorm can be placed on top of Tricks of the Trade to instantly root and damage Riki as he exits it, also preventing him from using Blink Strike. Agility stacking means high armor making Firestorm quite effective against Riki's high armor but low HP pool.

Pit of Malice is amazing at interrupting Spirit Breaker's Charge, which is his core spell and additionally prevents him from using his Nether Strike for the root's duration, crippling his presence in fights significantly. The Status Resistance from Bulldoze greatly compresses the damage from Firestorm within it's reduced duration but does NOT reduce the total amount, making it less of a DOT and more into a nuke.

Atrophy Aura reduces BASE attack damage and PL being an Illusion hero greatly benefits from stacking Agility and increasing his Base damage and Attack Speed to empowers his Illusions. Agility stacking means high armor so both Firestorm and Pit of Malice are great at providing reliable Magic damage and Crowd Control for him and his Illusions due to their AOE properties.

All of Pitlords abilities are AOE, which allow him to affect most if not all Meepos. Atrophy Aura reduces BASE attack damage and Meepo generally builds heavy stats items to empower his clones. Pit of Malice's root prevents Meepo from using Poof or Dig (Meepo's Aghanim's Shard) and does NOT get dispelled by Megameepo ( Meepo's Aghanim's Scepter). High stats means high HP and Armor, which Firestorm cares little for due to it's Magic and % Max HP damage.

Spell Steal turns all of Underlord's spells against his own team and even further empowers their already amazing values. The % Max HP damage from Firestorm scales with Arcane Supremacy's Spell Amlification resulting in devastating damage troughout the entirety of the game.

Ursa is both a hard lane and game matchup for Underlord as Fury Swipes' stacking damage does not get mitigated by Atrophy Aura. Enrage dispels both Pit of Malice and Firestorm and Earthshock can still be used during Pit of Malice, given it does not make Ursa leap forward.

Lifestealer has multiple ways of dispelling both Pit of Malice and Firestorm trough Rage/Unfettered and Infest. Infest can be used during Pit of Malice's root and Rage negates Atrophy Aura's damage reduction for it's duration. Being a tank shredder Lifestealer naturally matches up well versus Underlord as he has ample sustain trough Open Wounds, Infest and Feast.

Blade Fury can dispel both Pit of Malice and Firestorm. Healing Ward provides Jugg and his team with AOE healing to counteract Underlords AOE damage. Omnislash and Swiftslash (Jugg's Aghanim's Scepter) can be used during Pit of Malice's root and dispel him, while not being affected by Atrophy Aura for their duration.

Berserker's Blood provides Huskar with Magic Resistance to mitigate the damage from Firestorm and ample sustain to counteract it's DOT effect. Life Break can be used during Pit of Malice to dispel the root and leave it's AOE altogether.
