Tidehunter's Ravage sets up perfectly for Phoenix's Supernova, making it hard for enemies to escape or kill the egg.

Both Chronosphere and Ravage are strong AoE lockdowns. You can stagger them or use Tide to follow up after a Chrono ends.

Disruptor's Kinetic Field and Static Storm can trap enemies in place right after Tidehunter's Ravage, ensuring they stay locked down for maximum damage.

Tusk is a strong lane partner for Tidehunter. Gush combined with Snowball helps close the gap on enemies, setting up easy aggression. With Tag Team and Anchor Smash dealing heavy physical damage early on, the duo can easily secure kills in the laning phase.

Vengeful Spirit’s stun and armor reduction help Tidehunter close the gap with Gush, amplifying his physical damage. Combined with Anchor Smash, this synergy can quickly overwhelm enemy heroes in lane.

Tidehunter and Witch Doctor form a deadly lane combo. Gush sets up Paralyzing Cask and Maledict with ease, while the armor reduction amplifies the burst. Anchor Smash helps finish off even the tankiest targets

Tidehunter complements Templar Assassin’s damage with Gush, reducing enemy armor for easier kills. Ravage is a powerful ultimate that enables TA to burst down targets quickly.

...core items [7.39b]

A core item that helps with mana sustain to spam Anchor Smash for fighting and farming. Also makes you tanky with armor and HP pool.

A core Boots upgrade to become more tanky against high physical damage heroes, such as Phantom Assassin. Also helps close the gap on enemy heroes to connect with Ravage using the Phase active.

Vladmir's is going to provide you much needed sustainability through lifesteal and mana regen that you desperately need for spamming Anchor Smash. The lifesteal also occurs when attacking with Anchor Smash. Tidehunter is an amazing holder of aura based items which help improve team-fights and playing together.

A core mobility item to get the ideal positioning for a multi hero Ravage in teamfights.

A core item to have another form of lockdown on enemy heroes with Dead in the Water and have more versatility with Ravage usage. Works particularly well against elusive enemy heroes, such as Ember Spirit.

This will provide you the mana regen that you desperately need to spam Anchor Smash, while giving you strong survivability against magic damage, since you already have a natural way of dealing with physical damage through Kraken Shell and Anchor Smash. The DPS dealt from Mage Slayer is dealt onto all units when using Anchor Smash. This is your alternative to Pipe of Insight.

A core item that can win you the teamfight and the game with double Ravage. Be careful about your mana pool when you are looking to cast your ultimate twice with Refresher.

Kraken Shell dispels Dual Breath, Ice Path, Liquid Frost, Liquid Fire and even Macropyre's Burn.

It also completely negates the damage from Liquid Fire and Ice path, while heavily reducing the damage from all of his other abilities

Kraken Shell is very useful against Sticky Napalm and Flamebreak, easily dispelling them regularly.

Tidehunter is probably the worst hero to target with Flaming Lasso, as Kraken Shell will remove it and Tidehunter often survives long enough to cast Ravage in the middle of Batrider's team. At the same time, if Batrider initiates on his teammate, Tidehunter will have the perfect opportunity to counter-initiate.

Kraken Shell dispels both Last Word and Arcane Curse, significantly reducing Silencer’s damage and disabling potential. This makes Tidehunter much tougher to deal with in lane and allows him to sustain through Silencer’s harassment

Kraken Shell makes Tidehunter very tanky against Wraith King and his skeletons. Later in the game, Anchor Smash can clear all the skeletons, significantly reducing Wraith King’s overall damage output

Tidehunter reduces much of the damage from Beastmaster and his summons with Anchor Smash. Later, Aghanim’s Scepter allows him to clear summons from a safe distance, making it easier to control fights or defend towers.

Naga primarily relies on her illusions to deal damage, which is purely pyhiscal. Kraken Shell and Anchor Smash effectively counter her by reducing damage and clearing illusions.

Chaos Knight relies on jumping in with illusions to stun and burst a target. Kraken Shell dispels the stun, and Anchor Smash reduces much of his damage, making Tidehunter very difficult to kill.

Mana Break quickly burns Tidehunter's mana pool, preventing him from spamming his abilities, and Kraken Shell does not mitigate the bonus damage component. Blink allows Anti-Mage to enter combat quickly and safely after Ravage.

A well-timed Counterspell can reflect Gush back at Tidehunter.

Fury Swipes will keep stacking on Tidehunter since it cannot be dispelled by Kraken Shell and its bonus damage cannot be reduced by Anchor Smash.

Enrage dispels the slow from Gush, and if upgraded with Aghanim's Scepter, can even dispel Ravage's stun.

Dark Pact dispels debuffs from Gush, Anchor Smash and even Ravage if timed correctly.

Kraken Shell cannot restore attributes stolen by Essence Shift or dispel the leash if he gets Pounced.

Maledict is highly effective against tanky heroes like Tidehunter and can help burst him down in lane. Additionally, Witch Doctor’s Death Ward deals pure damage, which cannot be mitigated by Kraken Shell

Outworld Devourer’s Arcane Orb deals pure damage, bypassing Kraken Shell. His ultimate can burst Tidehunter due to Tide’s relatively low mana pool, and Astral Imprisonment can save allies from Ravage, making him a tough matchup

Necrophos excels at dealing magical damage to tanky heroes like Tidehunter. His Reaper’s Scythe can quickly finish Tide off, if he gets low on health.

Undying’s Decay steals strength, making Tidehunter squishier during the laning phase. Additionally, Tidehunter struggles to deal with Tombstone and its zombies.

Feast lets Lifestealer deal heavy damage to Tidehunter while healing himself, making trades unfavorable. His Rage ability also counters Ravage, making Lifestealer a difficult matchup throughout the game.
