SD can use Disruption on both CK and his Phantasm Illusions to create Illusions of his own that inherit Chaos Strike, while CK's own innate Reins of Chaos can be triggered by Disruption. Demonic Cleanse (Aghanim's Shard Upgrade) provides CK with a Basic Dispel and Disseminate increases the value of his Chaos Strike healing as he can now turn it into damage.
Death Pulse and Death Seeker (Aghanim's Shard Upgrade) provide low cooldown AOE healing that can affect CK's Illusions and sustain them in fights, allowing them to deal with one of CK's main counters better - AOE damage. Phantasm's amazing burst pairs well with Reaper's Scythe, quickly dispatching most targets.
In lane the two pair well together as they are melee/ranged - more importantly they both have a level 1 stun with Chaos Bolt and Magic Missile, which allows them to outright win most lanes. Wave of Terror reduces armor just like Reality rift and makes it easier to get to that 0 armor breaking point. CK aims to improve his base damage in order for his Illusions to benefit from it, which scales with Vengeance Aura.
In lane the two pair well together as they are melee/ranged - more importantly Chaos Bolt and Reality rift are amazing at setting up Ink Swell, which allows them to outright win most lanes. Soul Bind allows CK to pull both targets together with Reality Rift and also stun them both with Chaos Bolt.
In lane the two pair well together as they are melee/ranged - more importantly Chaos Bolt and Reality rift are amazing at setting up Poison Touch, which allows them to outright win most lanes. Shadow Wave can both heal CK and his Illusions, while consistently allowing the potential burst of damage it can do to occur as he pulls his targets with Reality Rift. Shallow Grave is amazing at giving CK the opportunity to heal back up with Chaos Strike as it amplifies its heal. Weave reduces armor, thus synergizing with Reality Rift as it makes it easier to get to that 0 armor breaking point.
Ancient Apparition’s Ice Blast stops enemy healing, which helps Chaos Knight’s burst kill heroes who rely on sustain. AA’s long-range spells and slows set up kills, making it easier for Chaos Knight to close the gap and land his stun. Chaos Knight’s illusions and lockdown create chaos, letting AA land his spells safely in fights.
Disruptor’s Glimpse can pull enemies back into Chaos Knight’s range for easy kills.
Static Storm silences enemies, preventing them from escaping or casting spells against Chaos Knight. Chaos Knight’s stun and burst damage lock down targets while Disruptor controls the area.
Queen of Pain’s high burst magic damage softens enemies quickly, setting up Chaos Knight for kills. Her Blink lets her initiate or follow up on Chaos Knight’s stuns with ease.
Chaos Knight’s illusions and lockdown create chaos, giving Queen of Pain space to cast spells safely.
Crystal Maiden’s Frostbite roots enemies, making it easier for Chaos Knight to land his stuns and attacks. Her Freezing Field deals massive AoE damage, helping control teamfights. Chaos Knight’s lockdown and burst damage enable Crystal Maiden to cast her spells safely.
Lion and Chaos Knight make a powerful duo. Lion’s multiple disables like Hex and Earth Spike lock down enemies, setting up Chaos Knight’s burst damage. His Mana Drain can control enemy spellcasters, limiting their response. Chaos Knight’s illusions and stun create chaos, allowing Lion to safely land his spells

Nightstalker's lack of AOE damage makes it impossible for him to deal with Phantasm Illusions in a straight up fight, considering they have built in sustain with Chaos Strike. Chaos Bolt has enough of a cast range to outrange Crippling Fear and Reality Rift can be used to pull NS away from his target of focus.
Huskar's lack of AOE damage makes it impossible for him to deal with Phantasm Illusions in a straight up fight. The combination of Phantasm and Chaos Strike can easily catch an already low HP Huskar off guard and burst him in mere seconds as CK can reliably get on top of him with Reality Rift and lock him down with Chaos Bolt.
Viper's lack of AOE damage makes it impossible for him to deal with Phantasm Illusions in a straight up fight. Corrosive Skin provides Magic Resistance, which CK cares little for and the combination of Phantasm and Chaos Strike can easily catch Viper off guard and burst him in mere seconds as CK can reliably get on top of him with Reality Rift and lock him down with Chaos Bolt. Phantasm can dispel Poison Attack and disjoint Viper Strike - even if it doesn't the Illusions do not inherit it's Break and can still Chaos Strike.
Phantasm can disjoint and dispel Ignite. Ogre thrives by locking down and nuking a single target with Fireblast and Unrefinder Fireblast, which even if he manages to land on the real CK his Illusions can still make quick work of Ogre.
Clinkz's lack of AOE damage makes it impossible for him to deal with Phantasm Illusions in a straight up fight. The combination of Phantasm and Chaos Strike can easily catch Clinkz off guard and burst him in mere seconds as CK can reliably get on top of him with Reality Rift and lock him down with Chaos Bolt.
Chaos Knight’s burst damage and stun from Chaos Bolt can quickly lock down Slardar.
His illusions and Reality Rift help chase and overwhelm Slardar in fights. Chaos Knight’s ultimate, Phantasm, can dispel Slardar’s Corrosive Haze, removing the armor reduction debuff.
Chaos Knight is strong against Bane because Bane relies heavily on single-target disables like Nightmare. Chaos Knight’s illusions from Phantasm can transfer Nightmare from himself or allies to enemies, spreading the disable effect. Additionally, Phantasm illusions can dispel Bane’s Enfeeble, reducing Bane’s control and damage potential.
Chaos Knight is favored against Ursa. His stun and burst damage from Chaos Bolt can lock down Ursa early. Illusions and Reality Rift allow Chaos Knight to control fights and chase Ursa effectively. Chaos Knight’s tankiness and lifesteal help him survive Ursa’s attacks.
His strong single-target stun and burst damage can quickly take down Visage before he sets up. Chaos Knight’s illusions can overwhelm Visage’s Familiars, reducing their impact.
Reality Rift helps close distance, preventing Visage from kiting effectively.
However, Visage’s Familiars can still be a threat if managed well, so timing is important.
Chaos Knight is favored against Lifestealer, especially with Orchid Malevolence.
Chaos Knight’s burst damage and stun can lock down Lifestealer before he gets close.
Orchid’s silence prevents Lifestealer from using Rage, removing his survivability.
Illusions and Reality Rift allow Chaos Knight to chase and overwhelm Lifestealer.

SD can use Disruption on both CK and his Phantasm Illusions to create Illusions of his own that inherit Chaos Strike, while CK's own innate Reins of Chaos can be triggered by Disruption to create additional Illusions for SD. Disruption can also be used as a save to disrupt CK's Chaos Bolt/Reality Rift combo and prevent him from bursting a single target down.
Wall of Replica and Normal Punch (Aghanim's Scepter Upgrade) can create Illusions of CK that inherit Chaos Strike. CK's own innate Reins of Chaos can trigger both on Wall of Replica and Normal Punch, creating additional Illusions. Normal Punch can additionally create Illusions from ANY CK Illusions and not necessarily CK himself.
Blubber can dispel both Chaos Strike and Reality Rift, allowing Tide to counter initiate and stun CK and all of his Illusions with Ravage. Anchor Smash can mitigate most of CK's and his Illusions' damage as most of his total damage output comes from attacking. Dead in the Water (Aghanim's Shard Upgrade) prevents CK from using Reality Rift and his Illusions do reduced damage to it. Kraken Shell provides further damage mitigation against CK's attacks.
All of Medusa's abilities are AOE, making her very effective versus CK and his Illusions. Split Shot allows Dusa to attack CK and any of his Illusions. Reality Rift cannot be used during Gorgon's Grasp. Stone Gaze and Mystic Snake's Aghanim's Scepter upgrade allow Medusa to stun all of CK's Illusions. Mana Shield does not take into account Reality Rift's armor reduction and as much single target burst damage CK can output with his Phantasm, realistically he struggles to go trough all of Dusa's mana pool in a single Chaos Bolt - once Dusa is able to get Stone Gaze of CK is forced to retreat.
CK's total damage output is mostly physical, trough his and his Illusions' attacks, which get greatly mitigated by Axe's infinetely scaling Armor and trigger Counter Helix. Berserker's Call can lock down both CK and his Illusions and Aghanim's Scepter can reduce CK's right-click damage significantly, which is most of his total damage output.
Due to Chaos Knight’s Reins of Chaos facet constantly summoning illusions, Terrorblade can use Reflection to spawn his own illusions of Chaos Knight. These reflected illusions hit hard and help Terrorblade dominate the lane, especially during early trades. This interaction makes it difficult for Chaos Knight to sustain or commit aggressively, giving Terrorblade a strong laning advantage.
Phantom Lancer can dodge Chaos Knight's Chaos Bolt using Doppelganger.
Doppelganger grants a brief period of invulnerability and disjoints projectiles.
If timed correctly, it completely evades Chaos Bolt.
It also creates illusions, making it harder for Chaos Knight to find the real PL.
This makes Doppelganger a strong counterplay tool against Chaos Knight's stun
Naga's ultimate, Song of the Siren, puts all nearby enemies to sleep, allowing her to disengage from fights or set up team plays. This is particularly useful against Chaos
Mirror Image creates illusions and disjoints projectiles, enabling Naga to dodge Chaos Knight's Chaos Bolt if timed correctly. Naga's illusions can match or surpass those of Chaos Knight, especially when equipped with items like Manta Style and Radiance. Her illusions benefit from Rip Tide, which reduces enemy armor and deals area damage, effectively clearing Chaos Knight's illusion, Ensnare roots Chaos Knight, preventing him from using Reality Rift to reposition or escape, giving Naga's team an advantage in engagements.
Warlock is strong against Chaos Knight due to his area-of-effect abilities.
He can cast Fatal Bonds on Chaos Knight and his illusions, linking their damage.
Follow up with Chaotic Offering to stun and damage them all at once.
Upheaval slows Chaos Knight and his illusions, making escape or chasing difficult.
This combo can quickly eliminate Chaos Knight’s illusions and turn teamfights.
Kunkka is generally favored against Chaos Knight in fights.
Torrent and Ghostship deal AoE damage, clearing Chaos Knight's illusions effectively.
X Marks the Spot prevents Chaos Knight from escaping after using Reality Rift.
Kunkka’s high durability and Cleave from Tidebringer punish grouped illusion
His Whirling Death and Chakram deal pure AoE damage, quickly clearing illusions.
Reactive Armor gives him tankiness against Chaos Knight’s burst and right-clicks.
Timber Chain allows him to escape Reality Rift and reposition easily. Chaos Knight struggles to deal sustained damage to Timbersaw due to his durability and illusion-clearing tools.
Sand Storm and Caustic Finale deal AoE damage, clearing illusions efficiently.
Burrowstrike provides reliable stun and escape from Reality Rift. Epicenter deals massive AoE magic damage, overwhelming Chaos Knight and his illusions. Sand King's AoE burst and mobility make him a strong counter to Chaos Knight’s illusion-based playstyle.
Winter’s Curse can force Chaos Knight and his illusions to attack each other, often killing him. Splinter Blast hits a main target and damages nearby illusions, helping clear them.
Arctic Burn slows and deals percentage-based damage, piercing Chaos Knight’s tankiness.
Cold Embrace can save allies from Chaos Knight’s burst by granting strong healing and armor.
His Primal Split creates powerful elemental spirits that can disable and harass Chaos Knight and his illusions. Thunder Clap reduces enemy attack speed, limiting Chaos Knight’s damage output. Brewmaster’s tankiness and crowd control help survive Chaos Knight’s burst and control the fight. Using Storm Brewling’s Cyclone during Primal Split can lock down Chaos Knight, preventing him from using abilities.
His Fissure provides a reliable stun and terrain block, disrupting Chaos Knight’s initiation.
Aftershock combos with his abilities to deal burst AoE damage, clearing illusions quickly.
Echo Slam is devastating against Chaos Knight’s illusions, often turning fights decisively.
Earthshaker’s crowd control and AoE damage make him a strong counter to Chaos Knight’s playstyle.
