Abaddon provides Alchemist with a stable lane, which in most games is all he needs to spiral out of control. Mist Coil and Aphotic Shield further sustain Alchemist and provide a dispel for him so he can truly go ham and do as much damage as possible in fights.

Abaddon massively improves the tankiness and HP sustain of Axe with Aphotic Shield and Mist Coil as he jumps in with Blink Dagger in fights. The Shield burst/reflection damage also helps finish off enemy heroes with Culling Blade.

Abaddon massively improves the tankiness and HP sustain of Centaur with Aphotic Shield and Mist Coil as he frontlines for his team in fights. The Aphotic Shield dispel also lets Centaur use Stampede when he is stunned or silenced.

Abaddon helps Dragon Knight play much more aggressively and without fear with the dispel from Aphotic Shield and HP sustain through Mist Coil. It massively helps Dragon Knight jump in fights and take down towers.

Abaddon acts as a meat shield to absorb damage for a squishy Drow Ranger in the laning stage. The movement speed slow from both heroes also stacks well to run down enemy heroes. Aphotic Shield and Mist Coil also help Drow Ranger play aggressively in fights and take down towers.

Abaddon enables Ember Spirit's aggression in fights with the extra tankiness and HP sustain through Aphotic Shield and Mist Coil. The Aphotic Shield dispel also helps Ember Spirit escape fights with his ultimate when caught with a stun or silence.

Abaddon helps Huskar play much more aggressively and without fear with the dispel from Aphotic Shield and HP sustain through Mist Coil. It massively helps Huskar jump in fights and take down towers.

Abaddon gets a constant movement speed boost through the Tether from Io to run down enemy heroes with right clicks. The Mist Coil HP sustain also gets a boost on the Tethered ally.

Abaddon massively improves the tankiness and HP sustain of Legion Commander with Aphotic Shield and Mist Coil as she jumps in with Blink Dagger in fights. The Shield burst/reflection damage also helps finish off enemy heroes to ensure Duel wins.

Abaddon gets to play much more aggressively with Oracle behind him for an extra dispel and HP sustain. Oracle can also trigger Aphotic Shield much more quickly to help it explode for AoE damage. Purifying Flames during Borrowed Time also heals Abaddon instead of damaging him.

Abaddon acts as a meat shield to absorb damage for a squishy Terrorblade in the laning stage. The movement speed slow from both heroes also stacks well to run down enemy heroes. Aphotic Shield and Mist Coil also help Terrorblade play aggressively in fights and take down towers.

Abaddon's Aphotic Shield can dispel the stun from Alchemist's Unstable Concoction and Abyssal Blade later in the game. The Withering Mist innate also reduces Chemical Rage's HP regen, which is Alchemist's main defensive tool. He also provides sustain for his team to extend the fight past Chemical Rage's duration.

Abaddon nullifies both Nightmare and Fiend's Grip throughout the game with the dispel from Aphotic Shield and Borrowed Time to protect himself or a teammate caught by the spells.

Abaddon nullifies Batrider's initiation through Flaming Lasso throughout the game with the dispel from Aphotic Shield and Borrowed Time to protect himself or a teammate caught by the spells.

Abaddon nullifies Beastmaster's initiation through Primal Roar throughout the game with the dispel from Aphotic Shield and Borrowed Time to protect himself or a teammate caught by the spells.

Abaddon completely counters Rupture by triggering Borrowed time and running to safety in its duration while healing himself. Aphotic Shield also helps dispel the Blood Rite silence as well as absorb some of the Rupture damage while running.

Abaddon can dispel Track off himself and his teammates using Aphotic Shield to completely counter the vision provided by Bounty Hunter.

The Mephitic Shroud facet on Abaddon absorbs the damage from Ion Shell in the laning stage while returning most of the damage back to Dark Seer. Since the Shield doesn't explode at the end, it also doesn't push out the lane and keeps the lane in a good position for the farming core in the lane.

Abaddon can dispel all of Dark Willow's control spells like Bramble Maze, Cursed Crown, and Terrorize with Aphotic Shield and Borrowed Time. Aphotic Shield also helps absorb some of the burst damage from Bedlam.

Abaddon can dispel Poison Touch as well as the armor reduction through Dazzle's spells using Aphotic Shield and Borrowed Time.

Abaddon can always run into Death Prophet and fight her during Exorcism by triggering Borrowed Time and heal himself instead of taking damage. Spirit Siphon also heals Abaddon during Borrowed Time as long as the two heroes remain linked.

Abaddon renders Jakiro useless in the laning stage by dispelling Dual Breath with Aphotic Shield. Later on, Abaddon nullifies Jakiro by dispelling the stun from Ice Path and the damage from the rest of his spells. Abaddon can also heal himself during Borrowed time by running through Macropyre.

Abaddon is never afraid to fight Juggernaut as he can completely absorb Omnislash by triggering Borrowed Time and heal himself. It makes Omnislash usage extremely tricky for Juggernaut throughout the game.

Abaddon nullifies Kunkka's X Mark into Ghostship and Torrent combo throughout the game with the dispel and damage absorption from Aphotic Shield and Borrowed Time to protect himself or a teammate caught by the spells.

Legion Commander can never kill Abaddon during Duel as long as Borrowed Time is off cooldown. Abaddon can always trigger the spell and heal himself. Aphotic Shield and Mist Coil also protect allies from dying during Duel.

Lina can never combo and kill Abaddon with all her spells as long as Borrowed Time is off cooldown. Aphotic Shield and Mist Coil also protect allies from dying from Lina's spells.

Abaddon can dispel the stun from Reverse Polarity off himself and one of his allies using Aphotic Shield and Borrowed Time. Aphotic Shield also helps absorb some of the damage from Shockwave and Empower hits.

Abaddon nullifies Mirana's Sacred Arrow throughout the game with the dispel from Aphotic Shield and Borrowed Time to protect himself or a teammate caught by the stun.

Abaddon can defend himself from dying to Reaper's Scythe by triggering Borrowed Time before the damage instance of the Necrophos' ultimate. Aphotic Shield and Mist Coil also helps teammates survive the burst from Reaper's Scythe and Death Pulse.

Nyx Assassin can never burst down Abaddon with his Dagon and spell combo as long as Borrowed Time is off Cooldown. The Aphotic Shield dispel also helps take off the stun from Impale and Spiked Carapace.

Abaddon can dispel the root from Overgrowth off himself and one of his allies using Aphotic Shield and Borrowed Time.

Abaddon can dispel Shadow Shaman's control spells like Hex and Shackles with Aphotic Shield and Borrowed Time. On occasion, Abaddon can also run in and destroy some Serpent Wards in the Borrowed Time duration.

Abaddon nullifies Corrosive Haze throughout the game with the dispel from Aphotic Shield and Borrowed Time to reduce the damage and vision provided by Slardar. Aphotic Shield also helps dispel the stun from Slithereen Crush and Bash of the Deep.

Ancient Apparition's Ice Blast completely nullifies Mist Coil and Borrowed Time as Abaddon cannot heal himself or his allies who are affected by the spell.

Axe's Culling Blade can kill Abaddon during Borrowed Time if his HP falls below the threshold of the spell. Aphotic Shield also doesn't dispel Berserker's Call. However, it does help absorb some of the damage dealt by Axe and his team.

Brewmaster's Storm Brewling can Tornado Abaddon during Borrowed Time to keep him in place and waste his ultimate duration. The Storm Brewling can also dispel Abaddon's Aphotic Shield and take it off instantly.

Disruptor can keep Abaddon inside Kinetic Field to prevent him from running at heroes or escaping during Borrowed Time. Disruptor's Glimpse also cannot be dispelled by Aphotic Shield and repositions Abaddon back into the enemy team if he managed to create some distance during Borrowed Time.

Doom's Doom spell completely nullifies Mist Coil and Borrowed Time as Abaddon cannot heal himself or his allies who are affected by the ultimate.

Lycan's pack of Wolves make it difficult for Abaddon to fight or absorb damage for his cores in the laning stage. Beyond that, Abaddon also cannot stop Lycan from taking towers as he cannot stand and absorb the high damage coming from Lycan and his units.

Outworld Devourer's Astral Imprisonment wastes a lot of the Borrowed Time duration and cannot be dispelled with Aphotic Shield. Outworld Devourer also has the potential to burst down Abaddon with Sanity's Eclipse without letting Borrowed Time trigger, even if it is off cooldown.

Phantom Assassin's high physical damage is a bad matchup for Abaddon because of his low armor. Later in the game, Phantom Assassin gets Aghanim's Shard and can Break Abaddon using Fan of Knives, which makes Abaddon trigger Borrowed Time manually.

Abaddon doesn't have much AoE damage to threaten Phantom Lancer while he has a lot of illusions around him. Once Phantom Lancer gets Diffusal Blade, it's very easy for him to burn Abaddon's mana with illusions and render him useless.

Razor's Static Link cannot be dispelled by Aphotic Shield, and lets Razor rack up massive damage from Abaddon or his allies. Razor also does a ton of physical damage during Eye of the Storm, which is a bad matchup for Abaddon because of his low armor.

Shadow Demon's Demonic Purge and Shadow Poison cannot be dispelled by Aphotic Shield, which are his biggest damage spells. Demonic Purge also dispels Aphotic Shield, and when upgraded with Aghanim's Scepter, also Breaks Abaddon and makes him trigger Borrowed Time manually. Disruption also lets Shadow Demon waste a lot of the Borrowed Time duration.

Slark does not care much about Borrowed Time and keeps hitting Abaddon to rack up Essence Shift stacks. Since Abaddon gets healed up during Borrowed Time, it gives Slark an even bigger HP pool to keep attacking and build up his agility and other stats.

Timbersaw can easily trigger Borrowed Time very quickly by doing massive burst damage to Abaddon with his spells. Once the ultimate ends, Timbersaw can just as easily kill Abaddon with another round of spells.

Viper's Poison Attack has no cooldown, and he can easily reapply the stacks dispelled by Abaddon's Aphotic Shield. Viper's Viper Strike also Breaks Abaddon and makes him trigger Borrowed Time manually. This interaction coupled with a Silence from Orchid or another hero can cause massive issues for Abaddon.
