Mist Coil provides Centaur with sustain so he can make use of Retaliate and to keep spamming Double Edge in order to do damage proactively. Appart from providing a strong dispel, Apothic Shield also soaks the self damage from Double Edge.
Fortune's End can set up Hoof Stomp and provides a low cooldown dispel for Centaur, while Fate's Edict can mitigate Double Edge's self damage, allowing Centaur to get of up to 2 free casts before it runs out. Purifying Flames and Rain of Destiny (Aghanim's Shard upgrade) provides him with much needed sustain to keep using Double Edge and Retaliate, while False Promise gives him another strong dispel and a save.
Ink Swell is amazing for both setting up Hoof Stomp and as a follow-up to it. Sould Bind causes both the affected targets to be within Hoof Stomp's AOE and to apply Double Edge to them.
Stampede provides Juggernaut with much needed mobility in order to make sure he gets on top of any high priority targets to attack them or more importantly to connect his cruicial, but low cast range Omnislash. Healing Ward is amazing for Centaur due to Rawhide and his high base strength gain.

Centaur's abundance of AOE damage can easily clear Phantom Lancer's Illusions troughout the entirety of the game, which is his core farming and fighting tool. He struggles to stay on Centaur to damage him as Retaliate and Double Edge can clear his Illusions with ease, while Hoof Stomp provides a lockdown that can get him killed.
Stampede allows Centaur and his entire team to close the gap on Sniper and get on top of him. Hoof Stomp provides solid lockdown and Double Edge's Magic damage isn't mitigated by his high armor. Since the majority of Sniper's damage is from attacks Retaliate is able to cause significant damage to him.
Stampede allows Centaur and his entire team to close the gap on Windranger during Windrun. Hoof Stomp can lock her down and Double Edge can do signifact damage as she has low Strength gain. Retaliate makes it hard for WR to use Focus Fire on Centaur as she usually runs out of HP before he does.

Rage/Unfettered can be used to soak/dispel Hoof Stomp and Double Edge. Aghanim Scepter allows LS to Infest any retreating with Stampede targets and stay on top of them. His abudance of sustain trough Feast, which scales with Rawhide and Open Wounds can easily result in a situation where LS completely outheals Centaur's Retaliate and total damage output.
Reincarnation makes it difficult to all in WK with Stampede as he'd have an extra life to spare. Wraithfire Blast can lock down any retreating with Stampede targets so WK can stay on top of them. His abudance of sustain trough Vampiric Spirit can easily result in a situation where WK completely outheals Centaur's Retaliate and total damage output.
Blade Fury can be used to greatly mitigate the damage and Crowd Control of Hoof Stomp and Double Edge. Omnislash and Swiftslash (Aghanim's Scepter upgrade) allows Juggernaut to stay on top of any retreating with Stampede targets. His abudance of sustain trough Healing Ward and his Blade Dance Lifesteal talent can easily result in a situation where Juggernaut completely outheals Centaur's Retaliate and total damage output.
Hoof stop has a relatively long cast point and can be dodged with both Sleight of Fist and dashing to a Remnant. Ember's biggest asset however is that he can root multiple targets with Searing Chains during Stampede for almost the entirety of it's duration.
Blubber provides a dispel for Hoof Stomp's stun, Double Edge's slow (Aghanim's Shard Upgrade) and Stampede's slow. Dead in the Water (Aghanim's Shard upgrade) leashes enemies and slows them even during Stampede. Ravage can obviously completely ruin a Stampede initiation or disengage.
Ursas Fury Swipes are a nuisance in all stages of the game to Centaur. In addition, in mid to late game Ursas shard and Aghanims upgrade are an incredible counter to the initiation of Centaur.
