Magnus provides AM with Empower, which greatly amplifies his farming speed and fighting capacity. This allows him to reach his item timings much more consistently and safely ,as he can leave the lane and start farming the junlge efficiently or cutting creep waves earlier than normal.

Disruption is an amazing spell for AM as it can be used both defensively as a save and offensively as the AM Illusions it creates have Mana Break. Demonic Cleanse provides AM with a constant dispel making it hard to lock him down with roots or silences to prevent him from casting Blink.

Underlord's natural ability to control areas and defend towers gives AM time to ramp up, without giving away too much of the map. Fiend's Gate allows AM's team to come to his aid if he happens to get caught out on the map. Aghanim's Shard allows Firestorm to be cast on AM, providing him with much needed proactive damage outside of connecting hits.

Oracle's and AM's kits work in tandem quite well. Purifying Flames sustains AM in the lane better than most other heroes due to Counterspell giving him extra Magic Resistance to offset the damage it does. Fortune's End can be channeled on AM and he can use Blink to root everyone around him. False Promise provides him with a save and once upgraded with Aghanim's Scepter a substantial steroid as well.

Earth Spike and Hex provide much needed lockdown for AM to have the opportunity to dish out his damage. Lion's tendency of picking up a Blink Dagger compliments AM's own Blink as the 2 of them can play actively, looking for pickoffs around the map, whenever someone inevitably shows to deal with AM's constant splitpush. Mana Drain synergises with Mana Void quite well as it help increase it's damage.

A core Boots upgrade to extract more value from Battle Fury with attack speed and damage through stats. Also lets you conserve mana through stats toggling.

A core item to flash farm the map and split push lanes with cleave damage as well as gain some much needed HP and mana sustain.

A core item that allows you to Blink on top of an enemy hero and burn their mana quickly with illusions. Also gives you a dispel and the ability to split push lanes with illusions.

A core item to significantly increase your tankiness and damage through stats. Works well against lifesteal and high HP regen on enemy heroes. Reduces the movement speed and HP sustain of enemy heroes you hit to make them less tanky and stay on top of them. Exceptionally good versus ranged heroes.

Counterspell can block or reflect Dismember, while providing significant Magic Resistance that mitigates a lot of Pudge's damage output as it is predominantly Magical trough Rot and Dismember. Blink's mobility makes it hard for Pudge to keep up with AM or to lock him down and stay on top of him when combined with Counterspell.

Mana Break is amazing at shredding trough Medusa's mana pool and turning her core defensive mechanic Mana Shield against her with a huge Mana Void follow up . Manta is a staple item for AM that provides him with dispel for Gorgon's Grasp root and Counter Spell can block/reflect Mystic Snake.

Storm is a very mana intenstive hero with a large mana pool making him a perfect target for Mana Void. Mana Break significantly cripples Storm as without mana he struggles to be mobile or do damage. Counterspell can block/reflect Electric Vortex if it hasn't been upgraded by Aghanim's Scepteri and provides AM with signifact Magic Resistance to mitigate Storm's damage.

Tinker can be very elusive, which makes Blink a reliable way to get on top of him. He is a very mana intenstive hero with a large mana pool making him a perfect target for Mana Void. Counterspell can block/reflect Laser if cast on AM.

AA's quite mana intensive due to the low cooldowns of his spells, which makes him a great target for Mana Void. Blink is amazing for both closing the gap and dodging/disengaging Ice Blast, Cold Feet and Chilling Touch hits. Counterspell can block/reflect Cold Feet and provides Magic Resistance to significantly mitigate AA's exclusive magic damage output.

Zeus is a very mana intenstive hero with a large mana pool making him a perfect target for Mana Void. Counterspell can block/reflect both Arc Lightning and Lightning Bolt and provides AM with significant magic resist to mitigate Zeus' damage. Blink is a reliable way to get and stay on top of him.

Blink is great for disengaging from Static Link and Counterspell can further block or reflect it. Mana Break can be applied to Razor via reflecting his Static Link. Blink's low cooldown allows AM to run circles around Razor as he has no way of locking him down.

Crippling Fear prevents AM from abusing his amazing mobility by not allowing him to use Blink. Dark Ascension makes it hard for AM to play on the outskirts of fights and wait for his opportune moment as NS's vision outranges Blink substantially. NS has one of the lowest Intelligence gains in DOTA and generally builds for rightclick making him a poor Mana Void target.

Simply put Meepo stats checks AM like no other hero as any stats he builds get it's value multiplied and is easily able to overwhelm AM after just a couple of items and a couple of extra Meepos. Earthbind can be used to chain root AM to death.

Mana Break and Mana Void literally do nothing against Huskar as he is the only hero in DOTA without a Mana pool. Counterspell does NOT block/ reflect Life Break nor does Blink disjoint it as Huskar still follows him.

AM has amazing Magic Resistance and a low HP pool to balance that out, while PA does huge bursts of Physical Damage and can usually delete an AM with a single Phantom Strike and a couple of Coup de Grace crits. PA is not the best target for Mana Void as she has low Intelligence gain and does not itemize for Mana much and forces AM into investing in a MKB due to her massive built in evasion.

Simply put Lone Druid stats checks AM to an overwhelming degree as he is essentially 2 heroes that do exclusively Physical Damage. Summon Spirit Bear's base stats are already too much for AM to deal with and a single Etangling Claws proc into a Save Roar fear is usually enough to get him killed.

Counter Helix and Culling Blade both do Pure damage, which does not get mitigated by Counterspell's Magic Resistance and are especially effective versus low HP pool heroes like AM. Berserker's Call provides reliable lockdown for AM that cannot be dispelled. AM having one of the lowest BATs in the game make him trigger Counter Helix frequently and usually a single Call+BM+CB combo from Axe is more than enough to kill him.

Troll simply scales exponentially better than AM to a point where in a straight up fight AM simply gets overwhelmed. Troll can chain ensnare AM preventing him from using Blink and cause him to miss attacks with Whirling Axes (Melee). Mana Void doesn't do much to Troll as he has one of the lowest Intelligence gains in DOTA.

Legion does infinitely scaling Physical Damage and provides a long duration lockdown trough Duel. Counterspell CAN both block and reflect Duel, however reflecting it is almost always an outcome AM would've rather avoided. AM has one of the lowest BATs in the game making it easy for LC to get Moment of Courage procs.
